Often my sil used to mention about  this ,which i found very similar to the usual keerai(greens) kootu, so i have never thought of trying this until last month....
Here is what she told me and it was surely bit different in taste than usual kootu.
Tur dhal - 1/2 cup
Spinach-1 big bunch washed and chopped or frozen- 2cups
Coconut-2 tbs
Jeera-1/2 tsp
Red chilli-2(to taste. This is usually mild)
Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp(She did not mention but i usually use turmeric in all my cooking)
Urad dhal-1 tsp
Oil-1 tsp
Mustard- seasoning
Salt to taste
1)Pressure cook Dhal
2)Steam cook spinach or cook  in a pan with very little water.and cool.
3) Grind spinach  coarsely.
3).Dry fry urad, red chilli and jeera till urad turns golden brown and grind it  to paste along with coconut .
4)Heat a pan and add well cooked dhal ,spinach  paste and coconut paste and cook for few minutes. Add seasoning.Serve with rice or roti.



The recipes have been tasted and liked by my family and friends .Some Ingredients amount might be approximate in some recipes, which i mostly mention.Plz adjust the ingredients like spice and salt according to taste.I will be Happy to clear any doubts .and very happy to hear the feed back, which will help me improve my blog.
