Its a Healthy Tiffin that can be made in just 5-10 minutes. Before going to the recipe let me first give a small news about the brown rice.Normally in India we do not use brown rice  for cooking.Its considered as poor man's Diet.Anyways... As far a the calorie and carb is concerned its the same as white rice but the only advantage that brown rice has is because of its processing,. meaning only outer husk is removed and not the next layers that's bran and germ , which contain several vitamins like B1, B3 and minerals like iron and magnesium.The barn part of the rice helps reduce LDL.

So having seen the goodness of brown rice lets come to Flattened rice.. Normally its said that flattened rice is easy to digest.and for me its easy to cook hehehe :D
Coming to the recipe
Flattened rice/Poha/Aval -1 cup
Water -just enough to soak the Flattened rice.
Salt- to taste
Mustard- 1/4 tsp
Urad-1/2 tsp
Channa dhal-1/4 tsp
Curry leaves-few
Onion chopped- 1/4 cup
Green chilli chopped-2(to taste)
Ginger chopped-1tsp
Corriander leaves
1)Wash and soak aval/poha/flattened rice just for a minute ,Drain completely and keep aside.
2)Heat oil in a pan.Add mustard and when it splutters add urad, channa dhal.Saute till golden colour.
3)Add onion and saute till pink .Then add green chilli and ginger and curry leaves and saute.
4)Add the Flattened rice and salt and saute  for few minutes.
Serve  with any chutney or gravy. As a variation We may also add little Lemon juice to make Lemon Aval uppma. or even Tamarind(have to boil this well to a thick paste before adding aval)or even add cooked vegetables to make vegetable uppma.
