GREEN PEAS MASALA


Yet another item that i learnt from chellam aunty.simple and easy gravy that goes well with any Indian bread variety.
INGREDIENTS:(measurements as given by aunty)
Green peas-1/2 kg
Onion-1/4 kg
Coconut-1tsp
Khaskhas(poppy seed)-1tsp
Tomato-1/4 kg
Oil
Corriander powder-4 tsp
Turmeric powder-1 tsp
ginger-small piece
Garlic-5
green chilli-6
whole spice(Cinnamon, cardamom,clove)
Bay leaf-1
Chilli powder-4tsp
Salt- to taste
Jeera- for seasoning
METHOD:
1)Boil peas with salt.(i used frozen peas)
2)Grind ginger and garlic separately to paste.Gratethe tomato and keep the pulp aside.
3)Grind onion,coconut, and khaskas to paste.
4) Heat oil in a pan and season with jeera, spices and bay leaf.
5)Add the ground onion paste and saute till brown.Add ginger garlic paste and saute well.
6)Add corriander powder, turmeric powder, chilli powder and saute .
7)Add tomato pulp and salt and cook till oil oozes out.
8)Add cooked peas( as i used frozen just few minutes of cooking along with this gravy was enough)
9)Add water and cook till gravy thickens .
Garnish with corriander and serve with chapathi or naan.
