My cousin shoba,who is a very good cook,taught me to make Makai Palak.
INGREDIENTS:
Palak- 1
Sweet corn-2 or 1 tin
Jeera/Saunf-1 tsp
Green chilli-according to taste.
Ginger and garlic paste-1 tsp
Onion-1 small(chopped)
Moong dal(cooked)or malai/milk-1 tbs
Kasturi methi-1 tsp
Salt- according to taste
METHOD:
1) Cook palak ,strain the water and grind to paste.
2)cook corn kernels.
3)Heat oil in a pan, add jeera or saunf then add onions and cook till golden brown.
4)Add ginger -garlic paste and saute well.
5)Add green chillies and saute,then add corn, palak paste, salt and cook for few minutes(adding water).
6)Add fresh cream or cooked mashed moong dhal (The taste differs a bit when we add moong dhal instead of cream.)or milk and simmer till thick like gravy.
7))After removing from fire add fried kasturimethi .
Tastes good with roti. I also love to eat this with dosa.
