MANGAI PACHADI


When i think of summer ,one thing that immediately comes to my mind is yummy mangoes.Its considered to be one among mukkani (three tasty fruits)-Pala(jack fruit )Vazhai(bananna) being the other two ,that's mentioned in tamil literatutes.Salem in tamilnadu , which is famous for its mangoes is my native place so obviously i love mangoes so much. Love to have them in any form, be it- milkshake or mango rice or mango jam or mango pickle or Mango pachadi .But here in US i dont think the mangoes taste as good as what we get in india.But still my craving for mango pachadi was so much that i finally got a mango and did pachadi yesterday.
Here is the recipe for pachadi.
INGREDIENTS:
Mango-1
Jaggery -1/2 Cup
Red chillies -2
Green chillies-4
Mustard seeds -seasoning
Curry leaves- seasoning
Oil

METHOD:
1)Scrape the mango skin.
2)Cut the mangoes into thin pieces.
3)Boil the mango pieces along with chopped green chillies till soft.
4)Add jaggery as mango .
5)Boil till it turns thick.
6)Heat the oil.Add mustard seeds, red chilies and curry leaves.
7)Add this to cooked mango mixture.
8)Mix it well. And serve.
MAY BE YOU ARE WONDERING ABOUT THE YELLOW COLOUR, THATS BECAUSE I USED TURMERIC WHICH NORMALLY THEY DONT USE.
