Masiyal is another favorite dish. my mom does this in Pidikarunai (looks something to US Name)
Though its a side dish ,i love to eat this mixed with plain rice.
Pidikarunai or Name- 2
Tamarind-small lemon size
Chilli powder-to taste
Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp
1)Wash and pressure cook Name/ Pidikarunai.
2)Remove the skin and mash it.
3)Soak tamarind in water and extract pulp.
4)Heat oil and season with mustard, urad,asefotida,curry leaf and bengal gram.
5)Saute onion and add tamarind pulp,chilli powder, salt and allow it to boil.
6)Add mashed pidikarunai/Name and cook till thick.
Garnish with coriander. Serve with any rice variety.
