MILAGU RASAM(PEPPERCORN SOUP)


A spicy soup that's given to us by my amma when we have cold or fever. Only difference is she does not add tomato ,since that might increase cold for some of them .
INGREDIENTS:
Tamarind -small lemon size
Pepper corn- 1tbs
Red chilli-2(adjust to taste)
Dhaniya/coriander seed- 1tsp
Jeera- 1tsp
Tur dhal- 1 tsp
Garlic - 2
Salt - to taste
Green chilli - 1 (optional- just for flavor)
Curry leaves- few
Coriander leaves- few
Water- as needed
Oil- for seasoning
Mustard- for seasoning
Asefotida- for seasoning

METHOD:

1)Soak tamarind in water and take extract.
2)Soak tur dhal in water separately for about 10-15 minutes.
3)Grind red chilli,pepper,coriander seed,jeera,soaked tur dhal,garlic and few curry leaves to paste.
4)Heat oil add mustard and asefotida ,curry leaves.
5)Add Tamarind extract along with water as needed.Add salt,turmeric powder.
6)Add the ground paste (step 2).mix well. add water if needed.
7)Boil .When forth comes up Switch off the flame and add chopped coriander and close .

Note:You can skip step 4 and do the seasoning after switching off the flame, like some people do.
