MUSHROOM BIRIYANI


Mushrooms have always fascinated me...It looks so cute ,like nature made umbrella for tiny creatures.Love to see these shoot up on the ground after rain.There is a saying in Tamil 'netru peidha mazhai illa indru mulaitha kaalan' meaning like mushroom that shows after  rain.(English expression 'pop up like mushroom')
But actually it doesn't show up all of a sudden.It takes several days to  grow and show up..just like the disease which we have...
Anyways.. They say its healthy one ,a low calorie food , rich in B vitamins,minerals like potassium and copper and low in carbohydrate.I also read that mushroom extracts are used as medicine to prevent tumor growth.. that's interesting news uh!!??
Umm.. enough on medicine and health.. lets come to our recipe

INGREDIENTS:
Rice- 1cup
Mushroom- about 1/4 kg
Onion-1 medium( chopped)
Tomato-1 (chopped)
Mint- 1 tsp(chopped)
Ginger Garlic paste- 1/2 tsp
Cinnamon-1 small
Bay leaf-1
Saunf(fennel) powder- 1/4 tsp
Garam masala powder-1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp
Chilli powder- 1tsp(to taste)
Salt(to taste)
Water- to cook rice
METHOD:
1)Heat Oil in a pan and add cinnamon, bay leaf,onion and saute well
2)Add ginger garlic paste and saute well till the raw smell leaves.
3)Add mint and tomatoes and fry well.Add salt. and fry .
4)Add garam masala powder ,saunf,chilli powder and turmeric powder.Fry well.
5)Add sliced mushroom(don't slice them small or thin) and cook till it becomes a dry curry.
6) Now add this curry along with twice the amount of water(depending on the rice  variety)to the rice and cook till done.
Serve hot with Raitha.
