My amma used to say nothing goes waste in this world. and everything has its own use. I never knew the meaning before. I thought she was taking about making crafts out of waste and about using the leftover food.But later i understood that even the greens stems like that of arai keerai or mulai keerai too can be cooked like poriyal and kootu.Its simple and equally tasty like the greens.Very simple ....just use cut greens stem instead of the greens or vegetables.
Here is the Red Greens stem poriyal for you all.....
INGREDIENTS:(approximate measurement)
Greens stem(chopped)
Onion
Green or red chilli
Urad dhal
Channa dhal
Mustard
Oil
Half cooked moong dhal(optional)
METHOD:
1)Heat oil and add mustard.After it splutters add urad,channa dhal.
2)Add onion and chilli and saute for few minutes.
3)Add chopped greens stem and moog dhal and cook it covered.(if needed add little water)
