For the first time I tasted this dish when we went to pillayar patti. I loved its taste and when i asked about this dish they told me its chettinad special.Later my Friend Anu gave me the recipe.And here is the recipe of one of favorite and easy to make sweet ....PAAL PANIYARAM
INGREDIENTS:
Urad dal-1/2 Cup
Raw rice -1/2 Cup
Milk or coconut milk
Sugar -according to taste
Cardamoms -2 or 3(powdered)
Saffron-Pinch
Oil to fry
METHOD:

1)Soak urad dal and rice for 3 to 4 hours.
2)Add little salt and grind to smooth paste(like vada batter).
3)Boil milk or extract coconut milk and add cardamom and sugar.
4)Heat oil and fry one tsp of the batter(we can either drop small balls or use the eye of the empty coconut shell ,which is the traditional way to make these small balls).
5)Add fried balls in the milk.
Garnish with chopped nuts and tasty Paal paniyaram is ready to serve.

You can add this tip bicks...
ReplyDeleteSoak the fried balls for a minute in hot water and remove immediately, so that the balls dont become clumpsy.

ReplyDeleteI've heard of Paal Paniyaram in a Tamil movie named Roja; I 've never tasted it before. I've been searching for the recipe since. Thanks for the recipe; I'll try it out and will keep you posted.
Yes what Anu says is correct. Even for Thayir vadai we need to first dip the fried vadas in hot water before adding to curd mixture.
