PAAL KOZHUKATAI
This is another chettinad dish, which i love.One of my favorite recipe is payasam.Love eating different variety of payasam so one of my mom's friend Vasanthi akka taught me to make this yummy payasam .
INGREDIENTS:
Rice flour - 1cups(or Idly rice soaked and ground to thick,smooth paste)
Water - approximately 1/2 cup
Salt- to taste
Jaggery- approximately 1cup
Rice flour mixed with water-1 tbs
Coconut milk or Milk-1 cup
Cardamom powder-1/2 tsp
Cashew- optional chopped 1 tsp
Salt- pinch
METHOD:
1)Boil water with salt and mix with rice flour too get a soft dough( my mom used to grind idly rice to thick,smooth paste paste and use.This was softer when compared to using rice flour)
2)When warm enough to handle make small balls ( i prefer using murukku maker with karasev mould and press to get small long kozhukattai)
3)Boil jaggery with water and filter it.
4)Boil the jaggery water again.Add caramom powder.
5)Add kozhukattai in boiling jaggery water(little by little giving time for them to come up).
6)Add the milk and stir for a minute.Add rice flour mixed with water and cook for few seconds.
Garnish with cashew and serve
