This is one among the posts that has been in my draft for a long time...
Its very simple and healthy dish.But the draw back is...its not available in all the places.... meaning this ragi without the outer skin..Its available in Chennai.I tried the same with regular ragi but it doesn't taste that good.My dad's cousin,Viji akka sent me this (Ragi cereal rice, thats what the packet says) from India. Its nothing but regular Ragi ,which has been processed.
Ragi is Rich in protein.Its supposed to be good for diabetes and cholesterol.
Ragi (decorticated)-1 cup
Vegetables(finely chopped)-1/2 cup
Salt -to taste
Green chilli- to taste
Mustard, urad dhal -for seasoning
Corriander and curry leaves
1)Pressure cook Ragi and keep aside.
2)Heat oil and Season with mustard urad dhal.Add chopped vegetables, add salt and saute till cooked.(cover and cook if necessary)
3)Add the cooked Ragi mix well with the ingredients .Add corriander and curry leaves and serve hot with chutney.
NOTE: we can also do lemon rice...oops lemon ragi or even venpongal.
