Appam(kandar appam) is one of the dishes that done for kartheegai deepam.But unfortunately i didn't learn it from my mom. so have no done this dish for more than five yrs.My mother in law does this dish really gud.I learnt this recipe from her. Her is her recipe
INGREDIENTS:
Idly rice-3/4 cup
Raw rice-1/4 cup
Urad dhal-1 handful
Fenugreek-1/2 tsp
Soda bi carb- 1 pinch
Green chili-1 or 2(according to taste)
Curry leaf-chopped
Coriander leaf- chopped
Salt-for taste
Oil- for frying
METHOD:
1)Soak rice,urad and fenugreek for about 5 -6 hrs.
2)Grind to smooth batter.(batter should be like cake batter)
3)Chop chili ,add salt, curry leaf, coriander leaf and mix with the batter.
4)Let the batter covered for 3 -4 hrs.
5)Add soda bi carb to the batter and mix well.
6)Heat oil in a pan and pour in a spoonful of batter in oil and fry till golden brown.
Serve with chutney or sauce .
