This is another favorite pakoda which my mom makes. No idea why its called patanam pakoda. My dad calls it Nenjadachan Urundau ???!!!This pakoda is Crisp outside and soft inside.Actually i have 2 recipes for this ....one is using Powdered roasted Bengal gram(pottukadalai/Dahlia)3/4 cup pottukadalai and 3/4 cup rice flour. other ingredients are the same.One done with Pottukadalai tastes better . other recipe is :

Rice flour-1 1/2 cup
Gram flour-1/4 cup
Soda bi carb-1/4tsp
Ginger-1/2 inch
Cashew(broken) or peanut-1/2cup
Ghee-4 tbs
Greenchilli chopped-4
Coriander chopped -1/2 cup
Salt-to taste
oil-to fry

1.Rub soda bi carb and ghee together.
2.Add rice and gram flour with salt ,coriander and green chilli
3.Add enough water and make balls
4. Deep fry the balls in oil till golden brown
5. Serve with coconut chutney
