So having seen the goodness of brown rice lets come to Flattened rice.. Normally its said that flattened rice is easy to digest.and for me its easy to cook hehehe :D
Coming to the recipe
Flattened rice/Poha/Aval -1 cup
Water -just enough to soak the Flattened rice.
Salt- to taste
Mustard- 1/4 tsp
Channa dhal-1/4 tsp
Onion chopped- 1/4 cup
Green chilli chopped-2(to taste)
1)Wash and soak aval/poha/flattened rice just for a minute ,Drain completely and keep aside.
2)Heat oil in a pan.Add mustard and when it splutters add urad, channa dhal.Saute till golden colour.
3)Add onion and saute till pink .Then add green chilli and ginger and curry leaves and saute.
4)Add the Flattened rice and salt and saute for few minutes.
Serve with any chutney or gravy. As a variation We may also add little Lemon juice to make Lemon Aval uppma. or even Tamarind(have to boil this well to a thick paste before adding aval)or even add cooked vegetables to make vegetable uppma.
