DHAL ROTI


Just like alu paratha etc this is one more variety of Indian flat bread(Roti). tasty and nutritious as dhal too is added. As everyone know moong dhal(split yellow moong dhal has a nice flavour and taste. We add this dhal along with tur dhal/lentil to make idly sambar to taste like hotel sambar.I don't remember where i learnt this dish from but did this after a long gap of 7 years.
INGREDIENTS
:(measurements are approximate)
Wheat flour- 2 cups
Moongdhal/green gram dhal-1/2 cup
Chilli powder- to taste
Onion-1(very finely chopped)
Green chilli- to taste(very finely chopped)
Salt- to taste
Kasuri methi-1/2 tsp(crushed)
lime juice-1tsp(optional)
Cumin powder-1/2 tsp
Oil- to smear

METHOD:
1)Mix wheat, salt and water to make soft chapathi dough.
2)Pressure cook moong dhal with little water. and mash well when cooked(it would resemble like mashed potato)
3)Add finely chopped onion, chilli,kasuri methi,salt,chilli powder,cumin powder and lime juice(optional) and make the filling.
4)Take small ball of chapathi dough and stuff it with the filling and close well.
5)Roll out to chapathi smear oil around and cook on both sides.
6)Serve hot with any gravy.( i love to eat it just like that. i like the spicy taste of dhal in it :) )

  1. My friend makes this roti.. It will be like moong dhal sandwiched between 2 rotis... Your looks lovely!
