This particular dish was told to me by one of my neighbour in chennai.The recipe she told had yam in it.As it was not possible for me to get yam :( i used Name (its the name of the veg , a root available only in shoprite) which almost has similar taste.It turned out to be very tasty.
INGREDIENTS:
Cooked Peanut-1 Cup
Onion -1
Tomato- 1
Name(small)cooked-1
Garlic flakes- 10
Tamarind -lemon size
Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp
Sambhar powder- 2 tsp
Fenugreek seeds- 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds -1/4 tsp
Mustard -1/4 tsp
Asefotida- pinch
Curry leaves(opt)
Salt- to taste
Oil -for frying
METHOD:
1)Soak tamarind in water(depending on the taste of tamarind)and extract pulp.
2) Cut onion, tomato and cooked Name.
3)Heat oil add mustard, cumin seeds and fenugreek, along with asefotida.
4) Add onions and garlic and saute for a few minutes.
5) Add tomatoes and salt.
6)Add chopped Name ,turmeric powder and sambar powder.
7)Add cooked peanut and saute for few minutes.
8)Now add tamarind and water(1-2 cups depending on taste of tamarind)
9)Cook until the oil seperates from gravy, and granish with curry leaves
TIPS:If the gravy tastes very sour u can add little coconut milk or milk. It adds more taste to ur gravy.
